Overview
Applications for the Dante Club scholarships must be received or postmarked each year between January 1 and March 31. Complete instructions and additional specifics are included in the official application packet.
Who is eligible
- Must be either a graduating high school senior or currently enrolled at an accredited college, university, or vocational school.
- Must be of Italian descent, with a parent, grandparent, great-grandparent, aunt, or uncle who is a member in good standing of the Dante Club or the Dante Club Auxiliary.
General information and award terms
- Scholarship awards are announced in the spring/summer of the same year applications are submitted.
- The number and value of awards depend on funds available; individual awards may be as much as $1,500.
- All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
- Before any funds are released, the recipient (or the recipient’s accredited institution) must provide proof of enrollment at an accredited college, university, or vocational school. Any field of study is acceptable.
- Scholarship payments will be sent directly to the accredited institution on behalf of the recipient and may be applied to tuition, fees, books, supplies, and/or room and board.
- Applicants are responsible for submitting all required materials. Any documents submitted after the initial application must bear the student’s full name and be marked “in care of the Scholarship Committee.”
Application submission window
- Applications are accepted each year from January 1 through March 31.
Required application materials
- Completed Dante Club application form with all required signatures (student and a parent).
- Two letters of recommendation from non-family members.
- Official transcript from high school or current institution covering the entire enrollment period to date.
- A two-page personal essay that addresses:
- Educational and career goals
- Past and current extracurricular activities (examples: volunteer/community service, scholastic clubs, civic groups, student government or leadership roles, athletics)
- Personal and financial challenges
- Honors and awards received
- How this scholarship will assist you in reaching your goals
- A list of any scholarships you have applied for or been awarded, including names and amounts
Other notes
- Panel interviews may be required for finalists.
