UCB Family Epilepsy Scholarship Program
Scholarship Sponsored by UCB, Inc.
In the year 2024, UCB is set to grant 30 scholarships, each worth up to $5,000, and 3 scholarships, each worth up to $10,000. These scholarships are intended for individuals affected by epilepsy, including patients, their family members, and caregivers who are seeking to further their education.
UCB will bestow scholarships of up to $5,000 each to thirty candidates who have shown both academic and personal success. Two individuals will be awarded the Epilepsy Leader Scholarships, each worth up to $10,000, in honor of the late Sandra Helmers, MD, MPH, and the late John M. Pellock, MD, who were both influential figures in the epilepsy community and sadly passed away in 2016. Furthermore, UCB will present one candidate with the Joe D’Souza Memorial Scholarship, worth up to $10,000, which was established in 2019 to commemorate UCB’s former global medical director.
The recipients of the Epilepsy Leader Scholarships and the Joe D'Souza Memorial Scholarship will not only have demonstrated academic and personal success, but will also embody some of the characteristics that Drs. Helmers and Pellock were renowned for. These include a commitment to advocacy and service, a desire to make a positive impact on the epilepsy community, and a spirit of perseverance.
