George N. Boulukos EOCS Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Eastern Orthodox Committee on Scouting
Introduction
Each year the EOCS awards two scholarships of $1,000 each. Recipients are chosen for demonstrated love of God and commitment to the Orthodox Christian faith, evidenced by leadership and service in church, scouting, school, and community, together with a short written statement.
Who may apply (Eligibility)
- You must be a high school senior enrolled in an accredited school. If you are homeschooled, please get in touch with the Scholarship Committee Chair (contact information below) for application guidance.
- You must be an active, registered member of an EOCS-recognized scouting organization: Scouting America (Scouts BSA, Exploring, Venturing, Sea Scouts), Girl Scouts of the USA, Trail Life USA, American Heritage Girls, or Camp Fire.
- You must have earned the Eagle Scout or the Girl Scouts Gold Award, or the highest award available in another EOCS-recognized scouting program. Note: members of Exploring are required to have earned the Eagle Scout Award.
- You must be a communicant member of an Eastern Orthodox Christian Church recognized by the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the USA.
- You must have received the EOCS Alpha Omega Religious Award.
Application schedule (Timetable)
- January 15 – March 15: Prepare and submit your application and request letters of recommendation.
- March 15: All applications and supporting materials must be submitted by this date.
- May 15: Successful applicants will be notified.
How to apply
Fill out the application form below and upload your supporting documents via the online submission system. Ask your references (details in the application) to send recommendation letters by email to the Scholarship Committee Chair, Dr. M. Kotsonis, at mekotsonis@gmail.com. All reference letters must arrive by March 15. If you have questions, email Dr. Kotsonis and include “EOCS Scholarships” in the subject line.
